Hanging Strawberry Garden Review

Read Reviews at www.jennyreviews.com My friend just got me a Hanging Strawberry Garden, and I dont know how I ever lived without it. I really love to have fresh fruit, but every time I buy it, it winds up going bad in my refrigerator, no matter how much I eat. There is nothing more disappointing than opening up my crisper drawers to a pile of funky strawberries when I was looking forward to a delicious treat. My friend was even nice enough to get the plant started for me. She said it was simple, just open the box and start watering. I, of course, put my Aqua Globes in right away. Now I have an automatic strawberry factory hanging on my porch! Now I put strawberries on my cereal or in my pancakes every morning. And since Ive got more strawberries than I know what to do with, I am always inviting my neighbors over for strawberry smoothies or daiquiris. I was about to buy a strawberry planter until I saw the hanging strawberry planter which I am glad I ordered because my hanging strawberry garden is easy to set up and move around which helps keep bugs and cats away. Now, with my Tomato Giant Ive got a pair of really beautiful plants that I can eat! Having yummy strawberries on hand is also a great way to keep me from eating junk food. Why buy a candy bar when I have a bowl fresh strawberries and yogurt at home?! So buy the Hanging Strawberry Garden and start growing your own super strawberries! Read more at www.jennyreviews.com

Help! Bugs are eatting my hanging strawberry plant!?

Question by Kindle Kitten: Help! Bugs are eatting my hanging strawberry plant!?
I recently got a hanging strawberry plant from a greenhouse that I have hanging on my front porch. I constantly see big flies (my boyfriend says theyre horseflies) and small fruit flies on it constantly. What is a good way to get rid of this problem without having to restort to a store-bought pesticide?

Try about a teaspoon of Murphy’s Oli Soap in a spray bottle with water. Mist the plant a couple times a day, and the bugs will get tired of it and go find someone elses strawberries to invade.

place the plantlet at the end of the runner on soil, pin down with a paperclip or hairpin. there’s no need to bury it. do not cut the runner until roots emerge from the plantlet.

keep soil moist, not wet.

keep it green.

i think but i could be wrong that you leave the hanging vines there.. or you can snip where the vines that connects to the baby plany and stick that baby plant in the pot where the main plant is… you might be able to put it in water to see if you can get more adult plants from it…. i would try with just one first before you go snipping off all you plants….good luck.. do you have berries on the main plant yet? or white flowers- that turn into berries?

what is the best strawberry plant for hanging basket I only had 4 Berry’s from 6 plants?

Question by rodneywheatley340: what is the best strawberry plant for hanging basket I only had 4 Berry’s from 6 plants?
this is the first year of growing srawberrys in a hanging basket for me and the result was poor is there one variety better than others for growing in this way?

Best answer:

Answer by Mandy B
As long as you cared for the plants properly (adequate water and sunlight obviously- as well as not crowding the plants too much), the hanging basket should not have made a difference.

It’s possible that you just got a bad batch of plants, but usually if this is the first year for the plants to bear fruit, they don’t produce very much. It could also be just a bad year for strawberries- we had about 8 new plants and did about as well as you did.

As for the type of plants, I would suggest getting an Ever-Bearing variety since they bear twice a year instead of just once.

how to preserve strawberry plant in a hanging basket over winter period?

Question by VIC: how to preserve strawberry plant in a hanging basket over winter period?
we bought a strawberry plant in a hanging basket this summer and had many strawberries off now winter is upon us would like suggestions on how to preserve for this period thank you

Best answer:

Answer by Cat
A pot above ground during winter risks having the root ball freeze through – killing the plant.

you can sink the pot in the ground – the earth is naturally insulating. Or put it in the garage (but then you need to remember to water about once a month to make sure it doesn’t go bone dry), or in a cold basement (ditto on the water), or put it outside, against the house out of winter winds, and pile a couple feet of leaves over it all for insulation.

If your winters are mild (without sustained freezing temps for weeks), then it will need no special care. Just leave it out where it is.
